Friends: Episode 1 Oh Young Joo's Daily Life

Friends is a brand new observational variety show featuring the cast members from Heart Signal 2 (2018) & Heart Signal 3 (2020). A "Real • Youth • Diary" revealing the story of love and friendship between young adults who lead unique careers and lifestyles. For the friends who have been busy with their daily lives, a "Friend Pick" capsule toy vending machine is delivered to help create a special relationship. The Heart Signal "friend-some" begins!

Our First Friend is Oh Young Joo

The heroine of Heart Signal 2, Oh Youngjoo, who captured the hearts of the viewers returns on Friends to show us a glimpse into her current life. 3 years have passed since that special winter at the Signal House, and many things have changed. Leaving behind a marketing career at Microsoft, she is now signed under Mystic Story and is active as a TV personality and content creator on YouTube.

Youngjoo's daily routine is revealed as she slowly wakes up to start the day at 10am...

After checking updates on Instagram, Youngjoo reaches for the probiotics next to her bed. The first thing is to drink water and take probiotics before anything else. Next, open the windows to ventilate the air and let in the sunlight.

Welcome to Youngjoo's House

Youngjoo has been living in this house for about 2 years now and it is her first house since moving out on her own. A lot of care went into decorating the house with cute and adorable things. Photos line the refrigerator, and a large colorful painting adorns the living room. Youngjoo even introduces the Ravenala plant which is "like a friend."

As Youngjoo heads to the kitchen to eat a tangerine, the MCs are flustered by how real this show is when her bare face is revealed. She is teased for looking different than usual, but still cute even with a puffy face. Plus, her skin is amazing!! After searching through the freezer, she takes out a cooling stick to help reduce the puffiness. No matter how hard she tries, her eyes are too swollen to force the double eyelids today.

While applying the cooling stick, she receives a phone call from a mystery guy. Sangmin wonders, "Does she have a boyfriend?" Plans are made to go grocery shopping together later...

Youngjoo's Morning Routine

Youngjoo continues to busily work on her laptop checking the stats from her YouTube channel. She recently held a giveaway event for subscribers. The prize is homemade grapefruit and lemon syrups. 5 lucky winners are selected at random. In the middle of packaging the jars of syrup to be sent out, she suddenly gets up to go make the bed. A slight tug on the corner of the comforter and on to the next task before finishing. Time to wash up. Unable to solely focus on one thing at a time, she fiddles with the phone and turns on music while brushing her teeth. Then spots a dirty faucet and starts to clean too. A style who likes to act on impulse.

After washing her face, she moves on to washing her hair. But wait...what is happening? The male MCs all look so confused while Seunghee chuckles. It turns out, she is saving time by only washing the bangs! Youngjoo explains, "If it isn't something important... a lot of girls do this!" Seunghee can totally relate! Girls are indeed too lazy to wash everything since hair takes too long to dry.

Youngjoo's Makeup Tips

To wrap up the morning routine, Youngjoo applies a natural makeup look for the day and offers some simple tips:

• Humidity is crucial! If it is too dry, set the humidifier to 30%. During winter, 40-50% is ideal.
• Spray water or mist on the puff, the makeup will apply much smoother.
• Before applying eye makeup, first remove the oiliness with powder.
• Warm up the eyelash curler with a hair dryer, which is better and safer than using a lighter.

A Special Memory Box

Youngjoo returns to working on the giveaway gifts, and writes handwritten cards for her subscribers. She searches through a large box for envelopes. It is a memory box containing precious things that cannot be thrown away, such as photos, letters, and birthday cards from friends. The MCs are shocked by a familiar object seen in the corner of the box. A special heart-shaped smiley face cookie made on a date 3 years ago that is kept until now...

Youngjoo says, "It doesn't mean much. I put it in there after (Heart Signal 2) ended. Actually, I've forgotten. I'm not looking at the cookie every day saying, 'This is my memory'... I tend to not throw away memories."

Pour-Over Coffee & Avocado Toast

For brunch, Youngjoo prepares a simple menu of pour-over coffee and avocado toast. For the bread, she chooses a healthy walnut bread. To store bread, she sets aside what she will eat and always freezes the rest.

Youngjoo's Avocado Toast Recipe:

• Spread cream cheese on the walnut bread toast
• Place half an avocado on top and slice it to spread evenly
• Sprinkle red pepper flakes according to taste
• Sprinkle dried parsley and Himalayan salt to finish

A second avocado toast is also prepared, but for who? She finally sits down to enjoy brunch, but first... a photo!

Tom & Jerry Relationship

After finishing the toast and coffee, the doorbell rings. A guy enters the apartment...Youngjoo immediately tells him to eat the toast, but he refuses to. As the MCs say, it does not sound like the way a couple talks to each other. The guy turns out to be Youngjoo's younger brother, Younggeun. Despite the effort in making the toast for him, he does not eat it. Apparently, stubbornness runs in the family. Younggeun helps with finishing up packaging the boxes and asks noona to buy him something delicious later since he is doing work for her. "What scares me the most is when he suddenly says 'noona' on KaTalk. It means he is asking me for a favor. We're like Tom & Jerry." And just like the adversaries, the siblings go at it with the bickering. Youngjoo does not stop nagging about how it is a waste of time for Younggeun to play computer games. Heechul cannot watch, "It's like watching my sister!"

Youngjoo also shows a very caring noona side by helping curl and fix up Younggeun's messy hair before going out to run errands together. At 6pm, Youngjoo returns home and thanks her brother for the help today. Bye!

The "Friend-some" Begins

Later in the evening, a text message notification comes in about a package delivery. It is the "Friend Pick" capsule vending machine! After carefully reading the instructions, she turns the knob while filled with nervousness... "Wow, daebak!" Who will be Youngjoo's new friend? To be continued...
