Change Days: Season 2 Episode 3 Recap - Things I Can't Do For You
The announcement of the second dates caused quite a stir. Like it or not, they will go on their second dates. But those who are left behind at the Change House feel anxious...
The Second Change Dates
After a stormy night, it is a rather calm morning. The ones not going out today prepare lunch, while the rest get ready for their dates. Dohyeong and Hyeyeon also enters the kitchen to get a bite of food before leaving. The two are getting rather chummy chatting it up right in front of their partners who are cooking for them. LOL, Jiyu wants them to just leave already...
Before heading out, Huihyeon peeks into the kitchen to say bye to Jeonghun. And he sweetly tells her to have a good time after checking if she is dressed warmly. While in the other room, Yunseul looks quite calm again after the huge fight last night and even helps Hyogi get ready for his date.
Hyogi & Huihyeon Change Date
Taking the convertible car, Hyogi and Huihyeon excitedly leave for their date. The first stop is a gopchang (beef intestines) restaurant, which is something their partners cannot eat.
They are so happy eating gopchang together. A look of sheer bliss. Over lunch, they are able to empathize with how guilty they felt despite not doing anything wrong. They wanted to meet again since they clicked, but were made out to feel like sinners. Not a good feeling since they all knew what this experience was about.
The reason he wanted to meet her again was because of how similar they are. He can relate to her and honestly did have fun. Though he thinks she can get along with everyone because of her easygoing nature. In response, she says she does not act this way to just anyone.
Code Kunst notes how they probably felt the same way with their partners when they started dating, as the initial focus is always about things in common. And makes a great point hoping the participants will not lose sight of the purpose of these dates. "To try to find the meaning of true love," he says.
The next date course is at a perfume workshop. They decide to make a unique perfume as a gift for each other. And they end up even naming it in a similar way, 'Pony' and 'Sloth!' Which is named after the animals they talked about resembling earlier in the car.
Huihyeon got to do things she normally cannot do with Jeonghun and reveals in the interview how she has not felt this happy in a while. In fact, more than all of last year.
The two showed amazing chemistry on the first date, but this time it felt more platonic. She is more excited than he is. Perhaps, his mind was elsewhere after the huge fight with Yunseul.
Dohyeong & Hyeyeon Change Date
Taewan is acting like a sulky child, "Hyeyeon, don't go!!" It may seem cute at first, but can be tiring if he is always acting that way. He sees her out the door, and politely asks Dohyeong to treat her to a nice meal. While Dohyeong just leaves without facing Jiyu to say bye.
A preschool teacher and a math instructor. The two can relate to each other so well. There is a natural comfort between them. Dohyeong puts all of his focus on Hyeyeon and is not even thinking of his girlfriend at all. My heart breaks for Jiyu who sadly voiced she has not been on a yacht before...
Before the yacht tour, they share a candid conversation over a meal. Hyeyeon says Taewan is unreliable so she cannot emotionally lean on him. When having a hard time, she is unable to share her difficulties with him because he does not listen. Dohyeong can relate. It is about having someone there who will just listen, and not about seeking a solution.
The next date spot is a romantic yacht dolphin tour. There is a lot of natural skinship between the two. She clings to his arm when the boat gets rocky, while he also places his hand on her knee. At one point, she even slightly leans her head on his shoulder. Oh my... These two are looking like an original couple. There seems to be mutual attraction...
In the interview, Hyeyeon honestly reveals she did not think of Taewan at all. She had a good time spotting dolphins and chatting, noting how sweet and caring Dohyeong is. And that Jiyu is so lucky to have him...
Dohyeong also enjoyed the time together and thinks she is a very charming person.
At the Change House
Meanwhile, those left behind at the house are feeling uneasy over what their partner sees in the other person. Rather than sitting around feeling miserable, they decide to go out together to get some coffee and shop for groceries. But even in the car, their imaginations are running wild. They cannot stop thinking about what their partners might be doing on their dates.
After getting some fresh air outside and feeling better, the four look all depressed again back at the house. They want to clear their minds and relax, but just can't. Even starts calling them the 'Perfume Couple' and the 'Yacht Couple.' Though just joking around, they are only getting more annoyed talking about it. While waiting around, they play the lie detector game. Taewan and Jeonghun have a funny moment withstanding the pain to maintain their pride. Hilarious!
Feeling stuffy, Taewan and Yunseul head outside for a walk. Worried that she may be feeling upset, he kindly explains why he did not send her a second date request. It was because he wanted to get to know everyone first. She tells him not to worry about it since it did not bother her, but is thankful for how considerate he is being.
And it was quite respectful of him to maintain clear boundaries. He really did keep the perfect distance by choosing to remain standing rather than sitting next to her on the swing.
Hyogi & Yunseul Fight Again
While Taewan and Yunseul are still out on a walk, Hyogi and Huihyeon return from their date. Oh my, the timing... He sees her laughing happily and is immediately triggered...
Yunseul then joins Taewan outside again for a smoke, and Hyogi angrily follows... Oh gosh... Looks like he is about to pick a fight and is acting quite rudely in front of Taewan. Feeling the awkwardness, he leaves the two alone. Hyogi corners Yunseul questioning why she was like that yesterday if she was going to be this way. Oh, he is livid...
The anger seems to come from a place of resentment rather than jealousy when he calls out the double standards. "I don't want you to tell me not to do what you do," he says. "I want it to be fair." He brings up how she is allowed to talk to her male friends, but yet she never lets him talk to his female friends. Feeling it is so unfair that he has to do what she says...
Déjà vu of the fight last night, but this time the roles are reversed. Hyogi corners Yunseul and will not listen while she tries to calm him down. The scene cuts. Looks like the fight escalates into the night with both of their voices raised. Nothing will ever be resolved if they continue to emotionally fight this way. They are only hurting each other... Sigh...
Hard to watch, but the situation is so real and relatable for most of us viewers. Cannot wait to see more of how their story unfolds...
On the next episode, Jiyu sheds tears seeing how close Dohyeong & Hyeyeon became. And after the dates, the whole group gathers for a Game of Truth. Hyeyeon provokes Jiyu asking, "I'm quite upset with Hyeyeon?" OMG... The drama...
