Oh Young Joo & Lee Gi Hoon Meets Again
On a snowy February day, who is Youngjoo waiting for? A man gets out of the car holding onto a coffee tumbler... She happily greets "hi~" when he enters the restaurant. "Have you been waiting long? Sorry," he says. It is our 'new friend' Gihoon! On the previous episode, the two had met for the first time. Seunghee gasps in surprise... "After?!"
A 2nd Meeting Connected by a Tumbler
After the greetings, Gihoon hands over the coffee tumbler to Youngjoo and she thanks him. As it turns out, she forgot and left her tumbler in his car when they met for "Friend-some Day." During the interview, he teases, "Doesn't it seem like it was on purpose?" But she says, "Absolutely not! I don't use that kind of [obvious] method," with a smile. She honestly did not remember until after getting home and chatting on KaTalk. To retrieve the tumbler, they arranged to meet up again as soon as possible. So here they are, just 4 days later...
Gihoon tells her there is coffee inside the tumbler. Youngjoo wants to try it, but cannot open the lid. Luckily, he comes to the rescue and opens it for her. Shindong teases, "Isn't that deliberate?" She finally takes a sip and is intrigued by the unique taste. He thinks she will like it, as he picked a coffee that suits her preference. A bit like Earl Grey tea. "Mmm~ It's good," she says.
Youngjoo says in the interview, "Oppa is very meticulous, but I didn't expect it to contain coffee." Then praises, "He has sense."
Not limited by a budget today, they can order anything from the menu. At least over $30! Having not come to the Yongsan neighborhood much, Youngjoo did not know of such a place and really likes the vibe. Gihoon mentions how a lot of fun places have opened up in the area recently. She tells him to visit Gupabal as well, her neighborhood. There is a Hanok village, which would be so pretty on a snowy day like today.
An Abundant Lunch
The drinks arrive, cheers~ And one by one, the dishes ordered arrive at the table. Compared to the $30 "Friend-some Day," a much more abundant table today. The food looks so good as they begin to dig in. After a taste of the soup, Youngjoo hums in approval but thinks the spoon is a bit small. Like a baby spoon. Gihoon asks the waitress if there is a bigger spoon available. "Aww..." as Seunghee loves it. Shindong teases her, "Are you excited by this?" and she nods yes.
Thank you for the food~ Youngjoo opens her mouth wide to try to eat a big spoonful of soup with bread. Too big! Gihoon chuckles. The MCs also crack up. Embarrassed, she tells herself, "Let's not be greedy." He teases, "The soup must be really delicious~" She takes a big bite of the toast next. Really lovely how she eats well, too cute! He motions to indicate there is something on her lip. Shindong says, "He's really considerate." And Seunghee says, "He's charming~"
Youngjoo turns around to look out the window, the snow is really piling down now. Gihoon sees that she is only wearing a coat again today, while it is freezing outside. "Actually, I usually wear padded jackets. I really don't like the cold," she says. "You can wear a padded jacket next time," he says. "Oh yeah?" she says with a shy smile. Wow~ The MCs go crazy already thinking about a possible next time. When will Youngjoo and Gihoon meet next...?
Gihoon's Memo Habits
After a long and stressful day yesterday, Gihoon managed to have a good night's sleep thinking about the fun lunch date for today. What a person thinks about before going to sleep determines the next day's fatigue level according to him. To have something to look forward to the next day, one will wake up feeling much more relaxed in the morning. So he always thinks about the most exciting thing about the next day, and would even write it down as a memo. Youngjoo wonders if it is effective and says, "Let's see what you wrote yesterday!" He shakes his head, "I can't show you..." Shindong jokingly guesses, "Please get along well with Youngjoo??"
Gihoon's Innermost Thoughts
Youngjoo feels Gihoon is much more at ease now compared to last time. Not the type to usually feel shy or embarrassed when meeting someone, he says, "But I was so flustered that day... It's weird." She chuckles, "I thought you were just that style." He reveals during the interview, "When I first met Youngjoo, she looked cool." An appearance he wants to resemble, to be able to speak frankly without filtering.
Back at the restaurant. He tells her how he sincerely thought 'I'm so glad I picked Youngjoo' after returning home from meeting her that day. She bursts into laughter, "Are you sure?" He explains how they share similar tendencies and preferences, but she is much more 'high-tension' than he is. And also knows how to make others laugh. "In fact, I'm very rational so I lack a lot of emotion. I don't cry even when it's hard. I don't shout even when I'm angry," he says. "I actually don't want to be like this, but I couldn't come out of it..." And says, "But I thought I could find a way to break through it if I am with a friend like Youngjoo."
Heechul says, "I really like this kind of honesty... Whether as a friend or as a 'some,' he definitely respects her as a person." However, Youngjoo laughs and says in the interview, "Honestly... I did not believe it at first." Thinking he only brought up 'I'm so glad I picked Youngjoo' because he felt sorry about answering 'Gaheun' previously. But as he talked more about enjoying how she joked around, she realized that he was being sincere about it.
Gihoon expresses, "So I was very grateful." And Youngjoo responds, "You picked well~" A great choice! Seunghee says, "The atmosphere is nice." Shindong agrees, "It's getting sweeter."
Youngjoo's Advice to Find a Breakthrough
After hearing him out, Youngjoo says, "Oppa needs to make a breakthrough. You must feel a bit stuffy inside." Gihoon is surprised by the fact that she can tell. Until now, he has taken on a main role as a listener. Despite having employees around him who are really close, he cannot vent all of his worries and frustrations. "If I say things like 'It's tough or I want to quit,' it might make them feel uneasy," he says. "That's why I'm hiding it."
"Right now it's good..." she says. And offers some sweet advice, "If you just pierce a hole or two, the air will be released and it will become more comfortable." In response, he says, "Poke some holes~" The excitement level rises for the MCs in the studio. "What?!" And Shindong says, "Isn't this a confession?" Flustered, she asks, "You want me to?" but agrees to help. He reveals in the interview, "I feel at ease~"
A Warm & Cool Friend-some Day
As lunch continues, Youngjoo is sad that there is no more shrimp. Gihoon searches the dish, but to no avail. The two start chatting about favorite seafood. "I love oysters," he says. "Me too!" she says excitedly. "Raw oysters!" Hearing that she is a fan too, he offers to shuck some raw oysters for her. In a good mood, she mischievously cracks a dad joke with 'gul' (oyster)... He looks at her and does not react with a laugh teasingly... She chuckles, and says sorry...
Q. How was the second meeting?
Youngjoo says, "It was warm. I think I got that 'It was warm' feeling."
Gihoon says, "In midsummer on a very hot summer day, while working outside... You know how drinking a can of beer feels particularly cool? It was like that for me."
A meeting with Youngjoo, who was like a 'can of beer.' So cool and refreshing!
