Black Sheep Game: Episode 1 Recap
The Black Sheep Game is a psychological survival game where 8 participants will stake their lives for a $100,000 grand prize in virtual currency. Who will become the final winner?
The Black Sheep Game
Mr. X (Sweet Home actor Kim Nam-hee) narrates the rules of the game. The players are cut off from the outside world for 5 days/4 nights. And with limited information, they must identify and eliminate those who are unlike themselves. Yup, Mafia Game!
The 8 players will be divided into 2 black sheep (mafia) and 6 white sheep (citizens). To win, the white sheep needs to identify and eliminate the two black sheep. But if one black sheep manages to stay alive by hiding among the white sheep, the black sheep wins. Hints can be obtained and immunity can be gained from daily games. Every night, the Black Sheep Trial will be held to try to find and eliminate the black sheep.
The Participants
One by one, the participants enter the Sheep Village. Upon arrival, all electronic devices that can connect to the internet must be handed in. Each player is assigned an alphabet code in place of using real names, and issued a unique barcode that describes their lives. The white sheep must figure out the codes that are only commonly shared by the two black sheep.
Note: Each player is given 7 main codes that pertains to their life. The codes can be checked by using the barcode scanner.

Black Sheep Game Tutorial
Mr. X greets the participants via the TV monitor to go over the simple rules. A practice game follows to find the black sheep. The Black Sheep Code for the tutorial is 'Natural.' Among the players, two black sheep have no plastic surgery or undergone any cosmetic procedures.
In the practice game, the two black sheep were caught in lies and easily identified. However, the Black Sheep Codes will not be revealed in the main game. Finding out the codes is part of the game!
Room Assignment & Curfew
There are 4 indoor resting areas next to the lounge inside the building, and 4 outdoor resting areas (tents). The players are not allowed to enter the resting areas of the other sheep, and a penalty will incur if violated. How will the location of the resting areas affect the game? The rooms are chosen...
Indoor Rooms: H in 1-1, E in 1-2, D in 1-3, & B in 1-4
Outdoor Tents: F in 2-1, A in 2-2, C in 2-3, & G in 2-4
During curfew, all movements outside of the resting areas are prohibited. The staff are on the move once restrictions are in place. After delivering a mysterious box to each room, players are then locked in for the night.
In each room is a code reader. Codes can be scanned in the public space or in each of the individual resting areas.
Player G quickly settles in and jots down all of his observations about the other players thus far. While H reads tarot cards where A & B came out as major cards. Then in 'The Genius' player D's room, he finds a sheet of graphing paper in one of the big books. A possible game changer? He figures out the 1, 2, 3, 4 system, draws a copy of his barcode, and succeeds in scanning it. His plan is to memorize other people's barcodes to find out their codes. Will D's code stealing strategy work?
Morning in the Sheep Village
Curfew ends at 10am and an alarm rings for the sheep to quickly gather at the Lounge. After everyone arrives, all 50 codes are revealed on the TV monitor. 1 of these codes is the Black Sheep Code!
Mr. X announces the black sheep already found out their identities this morning. 2 hours ago, a boxed breakfast was delivered to each player which may have included a note. Only those who are black sheep received a note with the mysterious barcode...
Right away, F throws accusations against H and G because they did not look surprised about the sudden announcement. But F herself is also acting mighty suspicious with all the sudden hand gestures... Hmm...
Hint Treasure Hunt
Hints about the black sheep can be obtained through mini games. The first mini game is 'Hint Treasure Hunt.' Before the players arrived, 35 treasure notes were hidden all over the Sheep Village. The players will have 1 hour to find treasure notes, and exchange them for the actual treasure at the staff booth. Finding more means getting closer to finding the black sheep. Will the black sheep work hard to find the hints or try to sabotage?
A barcode is given in exchange for each treasure note found. After scanning it, a code that is not a black sheep code disappears from the board. However, instead of the public scanner in the Lounge, personal scanners in the resting areas may also be used. If a personal scanner is used, the codes will NOT disappear from the board.
G catches F acting suspiciously trying to collect all the barcodes, while he wants to keep it all out in the public space. In the middle of the game, F suddenly heads back to her tent wanting to change her clothes... Really? Or is using the personal scanner the real purpose?
Alliances are formed and suspicions arise during the playtime...
The players gather in the Lounge for the results. 20 codes have been erased from the board. However, among the 35 treasure notes, 25 were found! 5 are missing... Who hid them?
A Preview of the First Black Sheep Trial
The first victim will be chosen here at the trial. B and E are certain that the code is 'Debtor,' and accusations are quickly thrown against H. An intense debate ensues as H tries to plead her case against F. The white sheep fall into chaos when it is time to make a choice on who the black sheep is. 6 people chose H making her the first black sheep candidate...
H is moved to the altar to make her last argument, and the final voting will decide the victim. Those who think H is a black sheep may press 'O' while those who do not think so may press 'X.' More details about what led up to H being cornered, and the final results of the first Black Sheep Trial will be revealed on the next episode... Will they save her or kill her?
