Pink Lie: Episode 8 Recap - Morning Starts at 8
A morning wake-up call request turned the Pink House upside down. And will Bareum have a change of heart once he finds out about Seulbi's Pink Lie...?
Episode 8 - Morning Starts at 8
A simple request wreaked havoc last night. Who will knock on Daon's door to wake her up at 8AM? Hanu groggily gets up at 7:30AM, but heads downstairs to do the dishes as usual. Did he forget? 8AM passes... Taeyang is still sound asleep. Hangyeol, who had promised to help wake him up, does not do it. And he turns off the alarm! At 8:20AM, it is Hanui who wakes up Daon. Both guys failed. Feeling disappointed in them, she rushes out the door for work.
As soon as Taeyang wakes up, he grabs his phone, but it is off since the battery died. Oh no! It is already almost 10AM, so far too late... After making such a big deal out of it, he could not even get up in time to help wake her up. Feeling sorry~
Hanu Rejects Hanui
Everyone has left the house to go about their free day. Hanu and Hanui are the only ones left behind. Not wanting her to get the wrong idea, he honestly tells her, "I don't think you'll be my final choice." Not able to accept it, she feels offended by his refusal in advance. Since he has reset his feelings, she insists he does not know his final choice yet. That it was too harsh and hasty of him. In the end, he agrees it was thoughtless on his part and apologizes.
Hanu did not want to lead Hanui on since he is not attracted to her as a romantic interest. So that's why he told her. "But I think she hasn't come to terms with it yet. I am hoping that she'll give up," he said, in the interview. While Hanui is having a very hard time coping with it. "The situation does make me feel confused, bitter, and sad..." she said. "It's a one-sided crush."
Bareum & Seulbi After-Work Date
Bareum booked a lamb restaurant for Seulbi, who enjoys eating it. To quickly get closer, they finally agree to drop the honorifics. For the first time, he is forward and expresses his interest in her. He wants to talk more and get closer, but does not want her to feel pressured. Though a bit clumsy, he was able to express his feelings. And when talking about his time on Jeju, he suggests, "Let's go one day." Feeling more comfortable, he takes more initiative.
In the interview, he felt that today's date went well. When asked if his heart was thumping, he said, "My heart kept thumping every moment." Smiling from ear to ear! While Seulbi felt there was a wall between them still, despite getting a lot closer. After seeing a new manly side, she does want to see him a few more times. But when asked who she would send a text to today, the answer was Hanu, who was lingering on her mind all day long...
Where Do Their Hearts Lie?
Hanu and Dahae return home from their date. So meaningless that not even a minute of it is shown. At least he has checked off a date with all 5 now and can finally decide. He sits down to chat with Hangyeol and Haneul, and reveals he has narrowed it down to 2. One of them is Haneul, as he directly asks her out on a date. Haneul, who has only 1 guy on her mind, says okay. Is it Hanu? While Hangyeol shares it is 1 person for him too, but does not say who...
Chansol & Dahae Impromptu Date
Chansol returns home from work, and right away compliments how pretty Dahae looks today. They walk into the kitchen telling each other about their day. He could not stop showering her with compliments, "You look like a goddess," he says. Elated, she gives him a hug. They end up going out after a busy day. Only a quick walk to the convenience store, but they make the most out of their time together. He even changed into all black to match her outfit. Cute~ And when crossing the street, he reaches out to hold her hand. So happy~
An Unexpected Gift
Back at the house, Seulbi tells Hanu to meet her outside. Though embarrassed, she hands a gift to him courageously expressing her feelings. She remembered that he ran out of lip balm so she got one for him while out today. Not just any lip balm, a Chanel one! Fancy~ Flustered by the unexpected gift, he is caught off guard and confused by her move.
Things just got a bit more complicated for Hanu again. After narrowing it down to 2, he gets a sudden dash from Seulbi whom he thought there was no connection with. It is taking a toll on his emotions. Confiding in Hangyeol, he laments, "I don't think I can do Pink Lie anymore. It's driving me crazy every day." He feels moved by her thoughtful gift yet feels bad knowing how Bareum feels about her...
Bae Seulbi's Pink Lie
At this time, Bareum enters the 'Room of Truth,' and picks Seulbi. What is her secret...?
"I am... a freelance weathercaster."
Female weathercasters tend to not have a long career to begin with. And as a freelancer, her job is not stable. Having to move around from one place to another for work, it has been hard to maintain a long-term relationship. So she chose to hide her real job to see if she can find a potential marriage partner.
"If I meet someone who I really click with on this show, I could actually get married," she said in the clip. As she also hopes to have 3 kids, the man would need to be somewhat financially well-off to support a family. But the most important thing is to be able to communicate well.
After learning her secret, Bareum is a bit concerned as he had wanted to meet someone who had similar work hours and patterns. Her secret was the very opposite of what he considered the most important. In addition, she wants to get married, but he is not ready to have a family yet. "I think our current values in life are a bit different," he said. Timing may be a bit off...
The Pink Moon Rises
The Pinkmates gather in the living room to check today's message: 'Whom do you truly have feelings for?' However, their texts will not be delivered today. One by one, they make up their minds and sent their messages...
Then with everyone gathered, Seulbi has something to say... And comes clean about the 3 of them already knowing each other. That they had arrived first and had been watching them all along from the 'Hidden Room.' The others are shocked by the reveal... Goosebumps~
Hangyeol Confronts Daon
While Hangyeol asks Daon to help check the video footage, they naturally start talking about last night. He had heard everything and could not take it anymore, which is why he came out to tell everyone to go to bed. His feelings for her grew too after their date, so he understands why Taeyang may have acted that way. Perhaps Taeyang might have felt something too after his date with her. And questions how her actions may have given them the wrong impression that she is interested in them. Basically, a déjà vu of Hanu's "Are you a fox?!" accusation, but in a slightly nicer way. He does not want to get the wrong idea if he is mistaken, and wants to know who she truly has feelings for. But she does not know how she feels yet either...
The Morning Alarm Incident
Back in her room, she is upset, and continues to talk about yesterday's incident with the girls. Because she had asked Hanu to wake her up, Taeyang got upset with her. So she ending up asking both, but neither of them woke her up. After hearing what Hangyeol said, it seems like she deserved it by giving them all the wrong impression. "I'm not in a relationship with any of them. It feels like they're bad-mouthing me when they don't know anything," she says.
Dahae, who had gone on a date with Hanu today, thinks Daon is one of the two women he is interested in. Hanui agrees. Daon thinks he never hinted at it and believes that actions speak louder than words. If he really was interested in her, he would have woken her up at 8AM. As Dahae is about to go to bed, Daon and Hanui leave to continue the talk downstairs.
At this time, Taeyang discovers Daon's secret in the 'Room of Truth.' And is happy to find out that she was in the entertainment industry. "If we were to become a couple, I think we'd have good synergy," he said. His feelings for her have not changed after learning the truth. But like Sunbin points out, "What's the point? Daon is upset right now..."
After going back inside, Taeyang finds Daon and Hanui talking in the dining room. He lingers around hoping to speak with her, but she avoids eye contact and says she is tired... Sigh.. he reached out to her to talk, but she avoided it. Misunderstandings will only keep piling up...
