Kim Hyun Woo Returns

The one who many people have been the most curious about. Not only for Heart Signal viewers, but for the former housemates as well. Sadly, nobody has been able to stay in touch with Hyunwoo. Jaeho expresses his wish to see him again saying, "I really like Hyunwoo hyung. We have not talked for nearly 2 years." For Jangmi, also Kim Hyun Woo. The person who sometimes comes to mind for Dokyun is also Hyunwoo. Wondering how he has been, and if he is doing well. The person who they all miss dearly is back. Kim Hyun Woo returns on Friends!

Hyunwoo's Morning Playlist

7am, an unfamiliar new house is revealed. Pretty and stylish objects can be seen. The MCs are in a bit of disbelief wondering if this is Hyunwoo's house. A person is seen tossing and turning in bed. No way... He begins to wake up and reaches for the remote to turn on the audio system. Seunghee confirms "It's him!" The morning playlist comes on. After hitting next a few times, he finally picks a song. "Dancing With a Stranger" by Sam Smith & Normani. The automatic curtains open up to let in the bright sunlight. Hyunwoo gets out of bed now though still drowsy. The MCs finally get a good look of him after he walks into the living room. Sangmin thinks he is even more handsome. While Heechul agrees and thinks he exudes such a cool aura.

An Update on Recent Status

"Long time no see," says the production staff to Hyunwoo. Already 3 years since his appearance on Heart Signal 2 where he gained huge popularity. There has not been much news about him, and a lot of people are curious. What has he been up to? He greets the viewers of Friends to give an update on his recent status.

There were some bad personal issues as Hyunwoo reveals. He says, "I couldn't contact anyone because I thought it would affect their image negatively... Because of my choice... of what I did, I couldn't go and speak out. What am I supposed to do to reflect on myself? That was how I felt back then and it's still not good now. I'm very sorry... and sad... That's why I've been hiding."

That is why he focused solely on work, running his restaurant Mesiya. To keep himself busy by working hard every day. But as he announced on his Instagram last summer, he made the decision to close the restaurant after 9 long years. Hyunwoo explains, "It's not because I don't want to do it or I lost motivation or didn't make enough money. It is not like that at all. The store contract ended. I will have to leave the place eventually, so I closed the restaurant." Like Shindong says, "Perhaps he just wanted to take a break... he's been working hard for 10 years."

Hyunwoo's House is Revealed

A neat and tidy Hyunwoo starts off the early morning by perfectly making his bed. A lint roller appears! He removes lint from the pillows and comforter meticulously. Next, he even cleans the floor using a standing lint roller. Sangmin teases, "He's a lint roller mania." After cleaning, he takes a moment to look out the window. Nice, sunny day!

Leaving the bedroom, he grabs a gummy candy to eat from his office. There is a bowl of gummies on his desk with a partially eaten cookie. He walks by the living room. The MCs are surprised by how huge the space is. The house is revealed. A neat interior resembling Hyunwoo, and black tones all over the place. He says, "A house I've always wanted to live in is a model house. Very pretty and neat. Ah, that's how I'm gonna live!" The stylish modern interior properly reflects his taste and preference.

A New Interest in Plants

Hyunwoo goes to the front door and brings in a big potted plant. He saw it at Yangjae Flower Market and thought it was really pretty. So he bought it. The flower market is a place where he can clear his mind whenever he visits. He removes the packaging, stares and ponders for a while about where to place it. A spot is picked. But upon another look, he is not satisfied. He picks up the plant again and moves it. Looks good now, this is the spot!

Shindong notices how all the potted plants are placed at intervals. Placing each one separately allows Hyunwoo to appreciate the beauty more. That is the reason why.  Sangmin says, "I grow a lot of plants, too... But why doesn't it feel like that?" Heechul teases him for trying to resonate with Hyunwoo. Sangmin gives them all a good laugh after claiming to have a lot in common. Where?! "Like living alone, the plants...," he says. Heechul rebuts, "He originally lived alone, but you were forced to live alone." That is true, hilarious~

Hyunwoo's Unique Breakfast

Time to prepare breakfast. Hyunwoo enters the kitchen, and starts peeling a bunch of hard boiled eggs. Just like 3 years ago, he is still a big fan of eggs. After taking a bite, he opens the fridge to get something else. What does he eat for breakfast? "It's almost always natto or eggs," he says. Full of protein. As Heechul mentions, natto is heathy and nutritious. Really good for you!

Hyunwoo's Method on How to Enjoy Natto:

• Place the natto into a bowl
• Add a little bit of soy sauce to the natto
• Crack a raw egg and add in the separated egg yolk
• Sprinkle seaweed flakes on top
• Mix it all together with chopsticks, and done!

Hyunwoo brings the food into the living room. On the breakfast menu is natto, chocolate milk, and boiled eggs. He turns on the TV to watch a movie while enjoying his breakfast. Slurping up and twirling the natto, then pops an egg into his mouth. The whole egg in one bite! A close-up is shown of his hand while he is super focused on the movie. For some reason, his bent fingers causes Seunghee to burst into laughter. The oppas tease her, "What is so funny about that?!!" Well, it is simply just funny!

Enjoying Leisure Time

After finishing up breakfast, Hyunwoo leisurely enjoys the alone time watching the movie. Running Mesiya, he only had one day a week off on Mondays. "There are a lot of things I want to do and see but I couldn't. After closing the restaurant... From the next day, I did almost everything I wanted to do," he says. Because of his busy schedule, he could not do the hobbies he wanted to do. Now he can take the time to relax and enjoy life. From reading books to going to exhibitions. Listening to music, and shopping for clothes.

Feeling sleepy, Hyunwoo lies down on the couch. Rubbing his eyes all ready for nap time mode. Despite being the one who does the least out of the cast seen so far, Shindong finds himself still paying close attention. "That's true," says Seunghee. "Even though he's not doing anything, he has a charm that draws you in." Sangmin notes, "There are people like that."

Getting Ready to Go Out

Like a child, Hyunwoo keeps eating gummy candy whenever he passes by the office. He enters the dressing room to get ready to go out. Like with the rest of the house, the dressing room is also incredibly neat. After picking a knit sweater, the lint roller appears again. A lint roller mania, indeed~ First, the knit and then the coat. Next, he puts the coat into the styler steam closet. Then he picks out a pair of pants and starts ironing. On top of the regular iron, he also uses a steam iron. He says, "I don't like wrinkles. All of my pants are pressed."

He enters the bedroom and selects a CD to play. Heechul is surprised to see someone still listen to music on a CD nowadays. This time, Heechul boasts about how they are kind of similar. Shindong is like "How?" While Seunghee pleads, "All 3 of you, please stop!!" Laughter~ the guys keep trying to find common ground with him. Going back to Hyunwoo, the song choice this time is "K." by Cigarettes After Sex. Music plays while he gets ready.

Hyunwoo heads to the bathroom to wash up, showing off a meticulous morning skincare routine. After washing his face, he sprays on face mist and gently taps around the eyes. Next, a small amount of moisturizer is applied using his pinky and ring fingers. Because of the dry winter, he even takes care of the scalp. Lastly, he applies sunscreen. All done! OOTD choice is all black. After changing, he turns off the music and heads out the door.
