Friends: Episode 4 Lee Ga Heun & Kim Hyun Woo's Friend-some Day Feat. Jung Jae Ho
Lee Ga Heun & Kim Hyun Woo plus Jung Jae Ho spends a memorable "Friend-some Day" on Friends Episode 4 sharing similar tastes, from flower arrangement to eggplant rice bowls.

Previously on Episode 3, Gaheun picked Hyunwoo from the capsule toy vending machine and reached out to Jaeho for help. Together, they arrived at the meet-up location where Hyunwoo was waiting. A reunion for the former Heart Signal 2 roommates who have not seen each other in 2 years, and a first meeting for Gaheun who felt really nervous.
In a nice atmosphere, "Friend-some Day" begins~ A unique space filled with a photographer's touch. Belonging to a close hyung of Hyunwoo's, this place is a studio and also where friends can hang out at.
Hyunwoo's Flower Arrangement Class
The table is neatly set up with the flowers and tools Hyunwoo prepared in advance. Jaeho picks up the flower foam and tells Gaheun how it can absorb water 30x its size. The two quickly stand up in obedience after Hyunwoo asks if they will remain seated. Jaeho teases her how "It's tacky to sit down?!" as the proper way to arrange flowers is to stand up. Gaheun playfully gives him a shove in return, making Hyunwoo chuckle. But enough fooling around...
The goal for today is to learn how to make a floral centerpiece. Hyunwoo leaves to get a picture to show them as a reference, while the two continue to joke around likes kids. Gaheun places a leaf branch in her hair. Jaeho snitches, "There's a crazy person here... What to do?" She takes it out and plays dumb, as if nothing happened. Jaeho ends up copying and places a flower behind his ear. "How does it look?" he asks. She plays along saying, "It's pretty!"
Time to begin~ First, Hyunwoo demonstrates how to cut the foam block. A very confident Jaeho starts right away, but it is not easy. Gaheun struggles with cutting it straight so Hyunwoo sweetly offers to help cut it for her. "Ooh~ So cool!" says Shindong. And while she struggles with cutting the edges next, he quietly assists by holding the foam block steady in place. "The atmosphere is nice," says Seunghee.
While Hyunwoo sorts out the flowers, Gaheun asks him how he got into flower arrangement as a hobby. "I've always liked plants," he says. "I thought it was pretty but when I see flowers, I feel a bit calmer." Gaheun mentions how she is completely an animals person, while Hyunwoo is into plants. She then asks Jaeho who answers "humans" without hesitation. Sangmin jokes, "[Jaeho] hasn't gone home yet?" Seunghee cracks up!
The first flower to place is the white lace flower. "Its role is to convey the flow of the centerpiece we're making," says Hyunwoo. The flowers are set at a distinct height. They follow along, cutting the stems diagonally, and placing the flowers. Hyunwoo teases Jaeho, "I've never seen anyone arrange flowers like that." All over the place, but symmetry according to him. Laughter~
To check, Hyunwoo tells them to look at the piece from a distance. The next flower is the hanoi, which will be the main face of the centerpiece. As each angle looks different, the prettiest side of the flower is the "face." A smaller face is better. For bigger faces, the flower is cut shorter. While Gaheun tries to place the flower, the stem breaks. She cutely pouts, "It's broken. Ottoke..." And Jaeho takes up the chance to tease her again, grieving over the destroyed flower...
Next up, the dahlia flower. Serves the same purpose as the hanoi. Gaheun looks at every angle, picks the "face," and places the flower. "You're better than I thought," says Hyunwoo. She shyly smiles after the unexpected praise. He finds a pink flower in the bunch and asks if she wants to use it. Like Sangmin says, "He doesn't talk a lot but he's charming." The floral arrangements are coming together nicely, looking so pretty!
Gaheun asks why Jaeho has a flower in his hair. Hyunwoo laughs at the silliness. Jaeho proudly says, "Success success!" Happy about making his hyung laugh. They carefully work on finishing up the floral arrangements with great focus. Jaeho reviews the symmetry. Complete!
Authentication shot required! Jaeho takes a group selfie. Gaheun suggests doing the flower cup pose together. Hyunwoo asks, "Oh... this?" with embarrassment. Jaeho laughs, "Can you do it?" Of course, he does not want to do such a thing. Too cute... Laughter~ After photos, they admire how pretty the finished centerpieces look. A job well done. So beautiful~
Hyunwoo's Eggplant Rice Bowl
Time for dinner. Today's menu is Hyunwoo's eggplant rice bowl. Gaheun and Jaeho shopped for the ingredients together prior to coming. A special request by Jaeho who yearns for the delicious eggplant dish. For the guests, Hyunwoo starts to cook...
For the miso soup, black konjac is boiled and then rinsed in cold water to cool down. Vegetables are washed and neatly trimmed. Heechul says, "It's like watching Paik Jong-won hyung-nim." An impressive display of knife skills, as the green onions are finely chopped in rapid speed. For the main dish, pork and eggplant is stir-fried with a homemade special sauce. Amazing tossing skills on the pan! The crunchy eggplant is placed over a bowl of white rice. After adding green onions and sprinkling sesame seeds, done! Looks so appetizing~
Gaheun and Jaeho dig into the food, each taking a big bite of the eggplant over rice followed by a spoonful of the savory soup. Mmm~ They hum in approval with how delicious it is. The soup is called tonjiru, a Japanese miso soup recipe. Hyunwoo adds in his favorite natto to the rice bowl for an extra burst of umami. Nonstop eating, so good!
Why Hyunwoo Cut off Contact
"It really tastes like 3 years ago," says Jaeho. "People waited 3 hours for this [at Mesiya]." To get into the restaurant, he used a roommate chance once and loved the eggplant rice bowl. "I really wanted to eat this [again], but I couldn't reach him," he tells Gaheun. "Just showing up would be too tactless." She asks Hyunwoo, "Why didn't you [keep in contact]?" Jaeho perks up wanting to know why. After hesitating, Hyunwoo says, "Because of the thought 'What good would it bring to contact me?' I didn't want to cause you any harm."
Jaeho sent many text messages to him out of worry. Sadly, Hyunwoo did not see any of it. Even after some time, Jaeho tried to reach out. He thought there was some kind of misunderstanding or he had done something wrong. "It's not like that," says Hyunwoo. "I had a hard time..."
As previously revealed, Gaheun got Hyunwoo's number from Dokyun. It turns out Hyunwoo was the one who called him once recently. Jaeho cutely sulks, "Why didn't you contact me?" Gaheun teases him for being upset. Hyunwoo says, "I missed you..." But did not worry too much knowing he was doing well after inadvertently hearing news about him. "Good news," he confirms.
Hyunwoo's Innermost Thoughts
Gaheun who was surprised to hear they were going to meet carefully asks Hyunwoo about his thoughts on joining the show. Since he has not even kept in contact with Jaeho, she thought he was in a "pessimistic mode." Jaeho then asks if this is Hyunwoo's first "Friend-some Day" meet-up. It is the first for him. Hyunwoo returns the question. Gaheun says, "I also met a friend once." He asks who so she replies, "I met Youngjoo unnie." Oh... followed by awkwardness...
To break the silence, Jaeho jokes to Gaheun, "Why are you reading his face?" Hyunwoo jokes too, "Yea... why?" Gaheun laughs and wonders why. She says, "On my way to meet Youngjoo, I saw several clips... I watched some funny clips, so I actually made fun of Youngjoo and imitated her." The famous lines from the paragliding date is then reenacted. "What is Youngjoo to oppa?" and the reply "A twist!" Chuckles~ Hyunwoo smiles, "I was too young back then..."
After some silence, Hyunwoo asks, "Isn't [Youngjoo] the same?" Jaeho nods, "Yeah, the same." Hyunwoo then wonders if anyone has changed. Jaeho says, "Nope. Everyone is busy with life." Gaheun talks about feeling empty when the show ended after spending a month together at the Signal House. Jaeho mentions how they did hang out quite a bit initially after the show and even went to the restaurant. Hyunwoo says, "Indeed, I've missed everyone."
Making Memories at the Self-Photo Studio
After dinner, Hyunwoo suggests taking pictures and takes them to a self-photo studio. A unique place where you can take your own photos, and learn how to develop the photos. First up, solo photos. Next up, group photo time! Hyunwoo jokes about how this feels too much like a family portrait. Laughter~ Jaeho directs the theme, a slight smile and then a bold laugh. Gaheun wants to take a cute one next, and asks Hyunwoo if they can do the flower cup pose once. He obliges to the request this time and does the cute pose. Omo~ "1, 2, 3" Click!
A staff then teaches them how to develop the film in a darkroom, step by step. Jaeho helps take a photo of Gaheun in the darkroom. Hyunwoo knows how Jaeho wants photos of himself too in return if he helps take a photo for someone. "That's right, take one for me," as he quickly hands over the camera to Gaheun. She takes a photo for the guys, but Jaeho annoyingly keeps asking for more. Causing Hyunwoo sudden tiredness...
While waiting for the photos, Gaheun and Hyunwoo have a conversation about his dogs. One is 19, and the other is 4. "He's sick and can't move around... can't really see well, can't walk well... just stays still and sleeps," he reveals. Gaheun empathizes, "You must be worried." The convo is cut short when the timer goes off. The film is ready! "So fascinating!" The next step is to dry the film, and shortly later the photos are done. They admire the photos and agree, "It came out very well." One last group selfie to save as a special memory~
