Change Days: Season 2 Episode 5 Recap - Between Familiarity & Excitement
The ladies go on a first 'Change Date' with their chosen partners. A new charm that is not felt with their existing boyfriends... The laughter never stops! In a place full of excitement and not familiarity, will new emotions develop...?

10 Days Until Final Selection
This morning, the pairs happily depart for their dates... Since Hyogi has 2 dates today, he will go out with Jiyu in the daytime and Hyeyeon in the evening.
Jiyu → Hyogi
Dohyeong who did not get chosen stays behind at the house. He joins Huihyeon and Taewan for breakfast before they head out. As they talk about the date photos last night, Dohyeong is genuinely surprised to hear about it. With eyes quivering, "What photos were they?" From his interview, it sounds like he is upset with Jiyu for not telling him she saw his date photos...
Jiyu had no chance to talk about it as Code Kunst points out. After not getting chosen, he fell into despair and moped around. She approached him multiple times to talk, but he wanted to rest and refused. If anything, she was being considerate of his feelings.
Yunseul & Jeonghun Go-Kart Date
Only a minute of their date was shown... A video montage of them go-karting and then taking a selfie together. Is that it?? Please show us more of their date!
Jiyu & Hyogi Macaron Baking Date
In the car, Hyogi and Jiyu agree to drop the honorifics with each other. The first date spot is a macaron baking class. He struggles with tying his own apron so she helps him. And he helps teach her how to properly beat egg whites to form a peak. A friendly and sweet vibe!
Later they suggest decorating the box with a drawing of each other. She stares intently which makes the ladies on the panel squeal. But she is just observing his big nostrils. LOL! But her drawing of him turned out really nice. While he is embarrassed to show her his drawing since he messed up the space between her eyes. "It's okay. I like it," she says with a chuckle.
While taking a bite of the macarons they just made, all of the filling oozes out. They burst into laughter! A comfortable date... Like friends having fun and laughing away.
Hyeyeon & Dohyeong 'Change House' Date
Meanwhile, Hyeyeon and Dohyeong are left alone back at the house. Like another date! She knocks on his door and they decide to make lunch together. He complains about how hurt he is to find out about the photos from someone else and not Jiyu. "I want to talk to her too, but I can't if she doesn't talk to me," he says. "Right!" she says. Then proceeds to feed him food...
Jiyu & Hyogi Cocktail Bar Date
The date continues at a restaurant and cocktail bar. Jiyu eats deliciously without a worry, but wished her boyfriend was out on a date today too. She opens up to talk about her worries...
Hyogi lends an ear to Jiyu's deep concerns. She is scared to think about how this journey will end, and reveals how her and Dohyeong have never said 'I love you' to each other yet. Since he does not say it, she does not say it either. But empathizes with how he must have his own standard when it comes to love. Perhaps he does not have the courage to yet or perhaps it is because she ghosted him in the past.
This relationship means a lot to her and she wants it to work out badly, but their problems are only getting worse. They are both careful and cannot open up to one another. During this trip, she wants to give it a try to fix things and salvage the relationship.
Code Kunst says, "Love and mistakes are separate things... What Jiyu and Dohyeong love is the time when they were happy together. They're not living in the present."
Dohyeong & Jiyu Talk
After Jiyu returns from her date, Dohyeong brings up the photos and clearly shows that he is upset with her for not telling him. She calmly asks him to think from her perspective and how down he was yesterday. But too late, he is already mad. "Is it my fault?" she asks...
They sit down to talk. Because she did not tell him about seeing the photos, he feels they are hiding secrets from each other. She assumed if she just held it in herself, they would not fight about it. And did not know it would hurt his feelings. In the end, she apologizes to him...
Jiyu says in the interview, "At the moment, I was confused and felt like I did something wrong so I apologized... But when I thought about it again, I realized it wasn't something I had to tell him. I didn't know why I had to be scolded."
While the panel praised their effort to have an honest conversation, it felt very one-sided. Not once did he empathize or think about how she felt about seeing photos of him all touchy with another woman. His upset feelings may have been resolved during the "talk," but what about her feelings?
Huihyeon & Taewan Glamping Date
Before heading out on the date, Taewan tries to make up with Hyeyeon and sweetly reminds her to take some vitamins. Since she is going to the pool later, he does not want her to catch a cold. No response, she straight up ignores him! Which of course leads to another fight...
Huihyeon can hear them arguing as soon as she steps out into the hallway. Despite the fight, Taewan makes an effort to have fun in consideration of his date today. Huihyeon also makes an effort to brighten up the mood with her positive energy.
At the glamping campsite, they get started on making the fire and prepare food together. She responds well to everything he says and even feeds him food. A comfortable vibe where they can just laugh and enjoy themselves. "This is the best date since I've been here," she says.
Hyeyeon & Hyogi Swimming Pool Date
Hyogi meets up with Hyeyeon at the drawing cafe. A bit awkward as they cannot seem to get a conversation going. In the end, they just take some selfies before heading to the pool...
The next date spot is a nighttime swim in a heated pool under the moonlight. "Come on. Let's go! Hurry~" as she tries to grab his attention before jumping into the pool. Rather than feeling romantic while they look up at the stars, the overall vibe feels a bit weird for a first date.
Huihyeon & Taewan Glamping Date Continued
Huihyeon asks, "Do you like someone exciting or someone comfortable?" This is her current dilemma. A tough question but Taewan says he cannot be with someone who does not excite him. Otherwise, it is just like friends. He offers advice, which gives her a lot to think about.
Taewan reveals that he picked her on Day 1 when asked during the interview who he wanted to go on a date with. He says, the reason is, "When you talk to people, you make eye contact and that's exactly what I'm looking for in my girlfriend."
As for her, she appreciated and liked how he listened to her today. In her relationship, she is usually the one who listens and gives advice. It was a nice change for her today. She says, "I won't forget this date. I'm going to remember this for a while."
Two people who found what they each wanted from their partners. This date must give them a lot to think about. As Doyeon says, "It's both exciting and familiar."
Afterwards, they play a game of conversation Jenga to get to know one another. He selects a block and hands it over to her. She asks if they should skip this one but he says no... What is it? The question: "If I ask you to be my boyfriend, will you say yes?" Whoa... And the episode ends with a cliffhanger... What will his answer be?
On the next episode of Change Days, more conflict arises after the dates... And then a group 'Change Date!' They swap partners to play a game of pool, and jealousy ensues...
